CULTURE CAMPSITE, A UNIQUE STAY IN ROTTERDAM

WITH

Sustainable innovative objects

From 2019 to 2022, Culture Campsite functioned as a creative city campsite at an industrial location in the heart of Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Here you slept in one of the different architectural objects made from upcycled materials and residual flows. Smaller than a tiny house, more comfortable than a tent and more exciting than all glamping accommodations.

The sustainable art campsite was situated on a former parking lot which was transformed into a green city oases. You slept among fragrant plants less than ten minutes from the centre of Rotterdam and a stone's throw from the historic harbour and the river Maas.

The founders Boris Duijneveld, Isis Hoos, Thijs Masthoff and Laura Abbink started Culture Campsite to give you an innovative view upon architecture and design, as well as broaden horizons in the field of sustainability and circularity in a casual way.

Culture Campsite has combined an exhibition and playground for experimentation with recreation and functionality. It gave us the opportunity to build on a sustainable and socially balanced living environment while showing distinctive capabilities in doing so.

As an ongoing project, no season looked the same. Guests could be amazed as each seasons changed with newly added objects, each with unique visions of the artist, designer or architect and by the products of and collaborations with local entrepreneurs.

Culture Campsite is permanently closed as of 2023.
